Occupational Therapy
Hello Birney Community!
My name is Jess Smith and I am Birney’s Occupational Therapist (OT). I studied Occupational Therapy at USC and joined the Birney team in 2016. School-based occupational therapy is a special education service that supports students who have difficulty participating in school activities due to physical, cognitive, or sensory impairments. OT at school can include direct one-on-one therapy sessions, group therapy sessions, consultations with teachers and parents, and development of accommodations or modifications to support the student's participation in the school environment.
