Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!

Whether you're returning to Birney or joining our community for the very first time, we're so glad you're here. Birney continues to be a special place because of the incredible students, staff, and families who make our school community strong, supportive, and full of heart.

Over the past year, I have had the privilege of getting to know our students, partnering with families, and learning alongside our dedicated staff. What has stood out most is the unwavering commitment our community shares to ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to learn. This past year has been filled with meaningful connections, learning, and growth, and I am grateful for the warm welcome and support I have received from this incredible community. I am honored to continue serving as your Principal and Lead Learner.

This year is especially exciting as we welcome a new group of our littlest learners to campus. For the first time, Birney will include TK students as part of our Bobcat family! We are thrilled to begin this new chapter and look forward to watching our youngest Bobcats learn, grow, and become part of the vibrant school community that makes Birney so special.

At Birney, we remain committed to supporting the whole child. We know that students thrive when they feel safe, connected, and challenged in meaningful ways. This year, we will continue building on the strong foundation that makes Birney exceptional while deepening opportunities for academic growth, social-emotional learning, and student engagement. Together, we will foster a school environment where every student can learn, grow, and shine.

To our new families, welcome to the Bobcat community! We are excited to partner with you and encourage you to get involved, ask questions, and connect with our staff, PTA, and fellow families. Strong home-school partnerships are at the heart of student success, and we value the unique perspectives and contributions each family brings.

We can't wait to welcome our students back to campus and begin another year of learning, discovery, and celebration. The year ahead holds endless possibilities, and I am excited to see all that we will accomplish together.

Looking forward to a wonderful year ahead! Go Bobcats!

Sincerely,

Cait Christensen
